Moment Lorry Crashes Into Car Of Mum Taking Son, Aged 5, And Family To Buy Him Birthday Present

This young mum seen here with her five-year-old son died when their car was hit by a lorry while she was taking him to buy a birthday present.

The accident occurred at noon in the district of Finike in the southern Turkish province of Antalya on 29th April.

Zeynep Apcin, 30, set out shopping in her car with her son and relatives to buy presents for his birthday.

But the outing turned into tragedy when Zeynep’s car was hit by a lorry driven by a person who was only identified as E. A.

According to local news site Akdeniz Manset, the car was reduced to scrap.

Zeynep died at the scene.

Her five-year-old son, identified as Cemil, and their relatives, identified as Selda, 41, Emine, 25, Hatice, 15, and another young boy called Arife Miray Apcin, 5, were injured.

The moment of the accident was recorded by a security camera. In the video, the car can be seen waiting at the intersection before beginning to go forwards into the road, while the lorry hits the car and pushes it out of shot.

Emergency teams immediately arrived at the scene and the injured were taken to hospitals with ambulances.

Arife Miray Apcin, who was in severe condition, was sent to Antalya by an ambulance helicopter.

The lorry driver, E. A., was taken into custody. There was no comment from the police as to whether an investigation has been launched into the accident. It is also unclear if either party went through a red light.
