This is the moment Indian locals risk their lives crossing a damaged bridge after a river burst its banks during a flash flood.

The incident took place on the Amlawa River after heavy rains battered the city of Dehradun in the Indian state of Uttarakhand earlier this week.

Due to the heavy rainfall, the river’s water level was significantly higher than normal.

The region was battered by torrential rain and a landslide halted traffic on the Rishikesh-Badrinath National Highway near Chamoli in Uttarakhand on Monday.

According to local media, there were numerous reports of accidents related to the rainfall and three people, including an eight-year-old child, died when a landslide crushed their village home.
