The victim was identified as Aldo ‘Tano’ Nicola, 74, who was reportedly an experienced pilot and he had built the Long EX aircraft with licence plates LV-x383 that was involved in the accident.

In the video, two onlookers can be seen at the airfield when Nicola’s light aircraft crashes to the ground in front of them.

The Civil Aviation Accident Investigation Board said that the plane was being piloted by Nicola when “it suffered an accident at low altitude over the aerodrome”.

They added: “It was minor impact against the roof of a hangar at the aerodrome and the plane was left totally destroyed and the remains were spread all around.”

The exact cause of the accident remains unclear and an investigation is ongoing.

Nicola had reportedly had problems with the aircraft before. Reports state that last year he had to perform an emergency landing in a neighbourhood of the Tigre Partido, also in Buenos Aires, due to problems with the engine but he was not injured in the incident.
