The passenger walks back to the SUV and in that moment the victim decides to run away.

As he flees on foot, the passenger gets out of the back of the SUV with a gun and shoots the Shell attendant in the back.

The red SUV drives off as the victim’s colleagues rush to help him on the ground.

According to local media, paramedics took Hernandez Puente to a nearby hospital where he later succumbed to his injuries.

Reports said that the SUV has been indentified, but police do not yet know who the perpetrators were or why they chose to shoot the worker.

Shell colleagues said that there were four men inside the vehicle during the alleged robbery.

The investigation is ongoing.
