Moment Fireworks Transported By Van On A Motorway Explode Causing Traffic Jam

This is the moment fireworks being transported by a van on a motorway go off in a cloud of smoke after a rear-end collision and cause a traffic jam.

The incident took place on the Hunan Expressway, also known as the Changsha-Zhangjiajie Expressway, which connects the cities of Changsha and Zhangjiajie, both in Hunan Province, at approximately 6.30pm on Sunday, 16th January.

The incident reportedly occurred after the van was involved in a rear-end collision with a large lorry. A fire broke out, which caused the fireworks to go off.

Several motorists caught the incident on their phones. One video filmed from inside a car shows it driving past the vehicle containing the fireworks. Luckily, it is going in the other direction and is separated from the exploding fireworks by a barrier.

The vehicle can be seen following an ambulance, which has its lights flashing. This is despite it being reported that no one was injured in the incident.

Another piece of footage shows cars stopped on the motorway as the scene is engulfed in smoke and sparkly explosions. Motorists appear to have no option but to sit tight and wait for the show to be over, as cars back up and cause a traffic jam.

A third piece of footage shows a woman getting out of a vehicle to film the incident on her mobile phone.

The fire was eventually brought under control and the drivers were interviewed by police, although it is not thought that any charges were filed.
