This is the moment a firefighter is sent flying in an explosion while trying to open a garage door.
The incident took place on Dzerzhinsky Street in the city of Yakutsk in the Republic of Sakha, in Russia, on 11th December, according to the Ministry of Emergency Situations of the Russian Federation.
The ministry said in a statement: “The fire and rescue service received a message about a fire in a private garage. The firefighters were on the scene within six minutes. When the first unit arrived, smoke was visible from the building.
“As a result of the fire, the heater under a car and the car body were damaged by fire on a total area of two square metres (21.5 square feet).”
They added: “Thirteen personnel and three units of firefighting equipment of the Russian Emergencies Ministry were involved in extinguishing the blaze.”
The incident was caught on camera by a witness and shared online. It shows the fireman kneeling near the garage door and apparently trying to open it.
Suddenly, there is a huge explosion and the firefighter is sent flying backwards. He can then be seen getting to his feet before falling over.
A colleague rushes over to his aid and he manages to stand up on his own. No one was injured in the incident, according to the authorities.
