This is the moment a speeding motorcyclist hits a woman as she crosses the street, hurling her metres down the road.
The incident took place on Nova Descoberta Street in the city of Recife in the Brazilian state of Pernambuco on Saturday night (4th December).
Housewife Marilia Maria Guedes, 37, had just left her husband’s house and was on her way to her mother’s house across the street.
CCTV footage of the incident shows how she steps out onto the road and is instantly hit by the speeding biker, sending the two flying metres down the street.
The two are then seen coming to rest horizontally on the tarmac as passersby come to their aid.
The woman suffered several fractures to her skull, hips and legs and she was taken to the Hospital da Restauracao in the city centre.
Her daughter Giselle Guedes, 20, told reporters her mum was in a lot of pain, but was conscious and able to communicate.
The motorcyclist, named as Joelio Anastacio de Oliveira, was found to have been under the influence of alcohol at the time of the crash and he was arrested and taken to the police station.
He was summoned to a custody hearing on Sunday at the 9th Criminal Court of Recife, where he was released on bail under precautionary measures after the Pernambuco Court of Justice ruled he did not pose a risk to public safety.
He faces charges of drunkenness and non-fatal running over of a victim.
