This is the moment a father reverses into his toddler son while backing out of his garage and apparently traps the boy’s head under the back wheel.
The incident was filmed in the municipality of Aguas Lindas de Goias in the Brazilian state of Goias on 27th December.
Teacher Renato Miranda was reversing out of his garage when his son, 17-month-old Christopher Cleones Nascimento de Miranda, walked behind his vehicle as he was backing out.
The boy’s mother Nicolly Nascimento said she popped back indoors to get her purse when, in a matter of seconds, the toddler ran behind his dad’s car without her noticing.
In the footage, the car is seen knocking the boy to the ground before apparently pinning his head to the ground with the rear tyre.
The mother appears and desperately looks for her son, finding him lying underneath the car. Renato then has to move the car forwards slightly for Nicolly to rescue the youngster.
According to the news site G1, the boy only suffered minor injuries in the incident. However, his concerned parents did the safest thing and called for medical assistance.
The boy was taken to a nearby hospital and was treated for minor injuries to his ear and scalp before being discharged.
Fernando Ferreira das Neves, spokesperson for Brazil’s emergency medical service SAMU, said: “It was more of a scare. The boy had a scalp injury and a small ear injury and was taken to a health centre and is doing well. He was discharged soon afterwards.”
Nicolly said: “My heart sank. When I heard his crying, I threw myself on the ground to get him out. Then when I pulled him, his shirt was trapped by the wheel.
“That’s when I asked his father to move forwards so I could get him from under the car.”
