This is the moment Chinese cops drag an elderly man along the stony ground and stamp on the head of another kneeling resident as they are evicted from their homes.

The incident took place in the city of Zhaotong in the southern Chinese province of Yunnan after the Zhaoyang District Administration of Natural Resources reportedly assembled a team of cops to assist with the demolition of illegal edifices.

In the footage, several police officers are seen dragging an elderly resident along the stony ground as one cop kicks him.

A second video shows a resident kneeling in a ditch like a prisoner in front of a row of cops before one officer repeatedly stamps on his head.

The footage sparked outrage online and the local authorities admitted that both incidents took place on 11th March.

However, the regional authorities said in a statement: “The government demolished the buildings in accordance with the law, but some people do not understand the policy.”

According to local media, the officers in the footage are still on duty and it is unclear whether they are under investigation.
