This is the moment a burly uniformed police officer appears to steal the wallet of a helpless young man asleep on the pavement outside a house.

The incident took place in the borough of Naucalpan in the central Mexican state of Mexico when the unnamed victim fell asleep outside a house for unknown reasons.

While he was lying asleep in the pavement, a uniformed cop approached him and allegedly stole his wallet.

The incident was filmed by a CCTV camera and shared on social media where it has been widely circulated by outraged netizens.

In the black and white footage, a young man is seen asleep on the ground as a heavyset cop in uniform passes by.

The officer appears to scan the scene, before going over to the man and rummaging through his pockets.

He then walks away with what appears to be the sleeping man’s wallet.

According to reports, it is unclear whether the cop has been identified from the CCTV footage yet.

It is also yet to be confirmed whether the incident is being investigated by the local authorities.
