Moment Brazilian Cops Execute Fugitive With Hands On Head Before Claiming It Was In Self-Defence

This is the shocking moment two Brazilian cops apparently execute a fugitive with his hands on his head before telling police chiefs that the shooting was in self-defence.

The two officers, names not disclosed, serving in the city of Ourinhos in the Brazilian state of Sao Paulo, have since been arrested after footage emerged of them apparently killing a fugitive on the run after he had peacefully turned himself over.

The victim has been identified as 26-year-old Murilo Henrique Junqueira who was wanted by the police for attempted murder, according to the news site G1.

In the footage, filmed by a CCTV camera on a nearby home, the fugitive is seen placing his hands on his head and walking slowly to the officers.

However, one cop apparently shoots him in the abdomen at close range before firing again when the man is already in distress on the ground. Reports said he fired a third time while bending over the fugitive.

They apparently try to drag the man to his feet, but leave him rolling around in agony on ground before turning to leave.

The two cops promptly return and one of them fires his gun in the air before eventually leaving the victim to die on the ground.

According to local media, the first cop fired his gun three times in the incident while his colleague shot once into the air.

The two officers, names not disclosed, are aged 49 and 37.

The officers also handed over a gun to their superiors that they claimed was used by the fugitive, and that they only fired their service weapons at the man in self-defence, according to reports.

However, after the CCTV images emerged, police bosses ordered the arrest of the two officers.

Police chief Antonio Jose Fernandes Vieira said: “After the acquisition of the images, we realised that the version presented by the officers on duty, which was that of self-defence, was not accurate.”

The judicial authorities agreed to the police’s request to detain the officers and they were subsequently arrested and taken to the Romao Gomes Military Prison on 22nd September.

The police said they are trying to identify possible witnesses among the residents in the area of the shooting.

The investigation continues.
