The video shows a brazen thief pretending to choose jewellery in two posh shops before he suddenly grabs the loot and flees the scene in broad daylight.

The incidents took place in the cities of Nur-Sultan and Almaty respectively, in Kazakhstan.

The footage surfaced after the owner of one of the shops told cops that the unknown man struck in broad daylight.

Having looked at the CCTV cameras, law enforcement officers identified a previous convict who was suspected of carrying out robberies in cities across Kazakhstan.

Cops later tracked down and detained the 26-year-old ex-con.

“It was established that the man committed robberies in broad daylight. He went into jewellery stores, distracted the seller, and stole gold items from the counter. Thus, he managed to steal jewellery worth about 3 million KZT (6,243 GBP),” police told local media.

According to local media, the suspect is currently being held in pretrial detention.

Cops have seized evidence and investigations are currently still ongoing.

However, it is unclear whether the man has been charged or if he may face court over the alleged offences.

The exact nature of his previous convictions is also unclear.
