This is the moment two men on a motorbike throw a grenade at a police station as a cop scrambles out of the way just before it explodes.

The incident was filmed at a police station in the city of Tame in the northern Colombian department of Arauca, and the footage was widely shared on social media.

In the clip, two men on a motorbike are seen passing the front of the station before apparently lobbing something towards an officer who falls over while running away from the tossed object.

The cop scrambles on the ground to get away moments before an explosion rings out and fills the air with smoke.

The officer appears to leave his radio on the ground before several cops rush out of the building with their weapons drawn

Police head Oscar Atehortua has confirmed the grenade attack and said that one cop and an office worker were injured in the attack.

Atehortua wrote on Twitter: “Today’s attack in Tame in Arauca is only a cowardly terrorist attack. We wish Tito Silva and Blanquita, who work in general services at the office, a speedy recovery. We are tracking down the criminals.”

No arrests have taken place yet as the investigation continues.
