Model With Vitiligo Shows He Is Now Proud Of His Colourful Body With Daily Insta Posts

These new snaps shared by model and vitiligo sufferer Roger Monte show he is not only now comfortable with but also proud of his appearance after it once drove him to severe depression.

Rio de Janeiro native Roger, 37, was 24 when he developed vitiligo, a long-term skin condition characterised by patches of the skin losing their pigment.

Not only did Roger have to contend with his changing appearance but he also had to grapple with the severe depression it drove him to.

The model revealed he would use concealer on his entire face before finally managing to learn to love his unique look in 2017.

Despite hitting international headlines earlier this year for overcoming depression, Roger has not been able to work as much of late as he had hoped, given the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.

However, the Brazilian has been managing to stay afloat by working as a sales assistant in a store in addition to sporadic modelling work.

The former management student told news site So Noticia Boa (Only Good News): “Today, I don’t call vitiligo a disease; I call it a feature.

“I’m proud of the feature God gave me because it makes me who I am. Before, I was just another guy. Now, I take great pride in being this colourful guy I turned into.”

Roger has lately been posting daily snaps of himself showing off his colourful and tattooed body to Instagram, where he boasts 49,000 followers.

He often captions his photos with motivational thoughts, such as: “Start to believe more in yourself and you will see just how far you can go.”

Vitiligo affects an estimated one percent of the world’s population. Sufferers include Canadian model Winnie Harlow.
