A top Russian model and Playboy bunny who was worried about being hurt in a car accident her whole life has almost been killed by a drink-driver and fears her mangled leg may put an end to her career.

Veronika Murashkina returned to her home in the city of Toguchin in the Russian region of Novosibirsk Oblast to visit friends when the incident happened.

She said: “All my adult life I’ve been afraid of cars, or rather afraid of being hit by a car. It’s why I never drive, and I don’t even have a licence, and I am a really careful pedestrian.”

Yet she added it was almost as if she had a premonition and realised you can’t escape fate after going to meet some pals and being struck by a drink-driver.

She said: “It all happened five minutes from my house in the city centre. This is the place where we always hung out when we were teenagers.

“I went out to meet old friends who I have known my whole life. We just stood, laughed, talked. I had no idea of the horror that was about to hit me like lightning.”

She said the drink-driver sent the group of friends flying and also struck her directly, leaving her lying on the ground in agony and all she could remember was the smell of blood.

Rushed to hospital with massive blood loss, it looked as if the doctors might not be able to save her leg at one point, according to the model.

In the end, they managed to save her limb, but she is still undergoing treatment after the accident in August last year, and fears that she may never work as a model again based on how disfigured her leg appears at the moment.

The dreamy blonde said she is looking into claiming compensation for loss of earnings during her period of treatment.

She added that it was her online followers, who she connected with in hospital, who made her start to fight for life again and seek justice over the injuries she received by suing those involved.
