Italian model and fashion influencer Chiara Ferragni has slammed Dutch model Doutzen Kroes after she thanked COVID-19 for “making us more humane” forcing her to promptly delete the post.
Since the outbreak of COVID-19, model and influencer Ferragni and her husband, Italian rap star Fedez, have been raising awareness about the dangers of the pandemic, and the celebrity couple reportedly raised nearly 5 million EUR (4.6 million GBP) for medical equipment in their home country.
However, the Italian influencer, who found fame through her blog ‘The Blonde Salad’, responded angrily to a video post by Dutch model and actress Doutzen Kroes about the pandemic.
The gorgeous 35-year-old model, who was a Victoria’s Secret Angel from 2008 until 2014, reportedly posted a two-minute video on Instagram for her 6.4 million that was titled “thank you coronavirus (COVID-19)”.
In the clip, which has since been deleted, Kroes reportedly thanked the virus for “making us more humane” and “giving the planet a break”, among other things.
Ferragni, who boasts 19 million Instagram followers, responded quickly, writing: “Honestly, this post is totally disrespectful. There are hundreds of thousands of people affected by this virus, thousands are dying, doctors have not been able to see their families for weeks, people are losing their jobs, and countries are collapsing.
“And you say that we should be grateful for this virus? It is common sense and maturity that should make you appreciate the little things in life, not a deadly virus. What the hell are you talking about?”
According to local media, Ferragni was not the only netizen to criticise the Dutch model for her comments and she took the video down one hour after posting it.
Kroes later apologised for the post and explained that she was only trying to look for the positives in the situation.
