This is the moment an angry mob pummels an alleged thief bleeding heavily from his face as a female cop handcuffs him to a lamppost and does nothing to intervene.

The incident occurred after two alleged thieves, a 35-year old Uruguayan national and a 41-year-old from Argentina, went into a shop in the neighbourhood of Balvanera in the capital city of Buenos Aires in eastern Argentina.

They are said to have tied up the female shopkeeper and stolen her belongings before taking her house keys.

They then went to her flat, located just a few metres from the shop, but the woman’s husband was there having lunch and he ran to a balcony to ask neighbours for help, according to reports.

The two suspected thieves, unnamed in reports, then reportedly fled the flat without stealing anything but local residents managed to nab them.

In the video, one of the criminals can be seen bleeding heavily from his face as a female cop handcuffs him to almost. Angry residents then begin kicking his chest and slapping his head until he ends up crouching on the ground.

The other criminal was reportedly also arrested at a nearby intersection. A criminal case into attempted robbery, unlawful deprivation of liberty and causing injuries has been opened but is unclear if the suspects have been charged.

Paramedics treated the female shop owner for an injury to her head and her husband was attended for injuries to his hands after he tried to break a window and ask for help, according to local media.
