This MMA fighter has been caged for five years for killing an innocent dad-of-two, also pictured, with a single punch from behind outside a nightclub because he was furious at being kicked out.

The perpetrator, who due to local privacy laws was only identified as a 23-year-old Swiss national with Kosovan roots, has been sentenced to five years in prison after a court in the Swiss city of Lugano found him guilty of manslaughter.

The court found it proven that the man, who is an amateur mixed-martial arts fighter, had beaten 44-year-old family father Fabrizio Caravati to death.

The attack happened in the early morning of 22th April 2017 at the exit of the “Rotonda” club in Gordola, located in the Italian-speaking Swiss canton of Ticino.

A bouncer who witnessed the incident said: “This guy was accompanied by a girl. He had already brawled at the cloakroom with another guest. We kicked him out. He was probably upset and under the influence of alcohol and drugs.”

The doorman watched how the victim suddenly attacked Caravati from behind with a single punch.

He said: “The victim and perpetrators did not know each other.”

According to the judge, Caravati, a factory owner who frequently visited the club, was simply in the wrong place at the wrong time.

Judge Amos Pagnamenta said: “He was angry and hit the first person who was standing in front of him.”

Caravati was hit in the neck, which caused a rupture in the spinal aorta leading to a brain haemorrhage.

He was rushed to the hospital but died a day later from his injuries.

Judge Pagnamenta blasted the perpetrator for lying throughout the trial and frequently changing his statements.

He said: “I’ve rarely seen anyone who changes his version daily during his testimony.”

Chief prosecutor Arturo Garzoni had asked for a 12-year sentence as he claimed the killing was deliberate but the court decided to hand the MMA fighter five years behind bars.
