Missing Teen Last Seen Squatting In Her Own Grave Has Been Found, Says Devastated Family

The mother of a teenage girl last seen squatting in her own grave in shocking images shared on social media has been left devastated after her dead body identified by her clothes and jewellery was found.

These chilling photos of 17-year-old Gisele Vitoria da Silva Sampaio sitting on the ground with a handgun aimed at her head and squatting in a shallow grave are the last time she was seen alive.

She was later photographed lying in the grave covered in blood in the photos that were shared on WhatsApp following the teen’s disappearance from her home in the Brazilian municipality of Teresina.

The body was found in a pit on the banks of the Poti River in Teresina on 22nd May, over two months since Gisele’s apparent murder, which has now seemingly been confirmed as a reality.

At the time of reporting, the post-mortem had not yet been carried out to confirm her identity.

However, her mother, Samara, and the family are in no doubt, adding: “Those were her clothes, earrings, necklace and flip flops. I’ve no doubt it’s her. Very sad. Her brother couldn’t take seeing all that. He was very shaken.”

Samara reported that her daughter was being threatened shortly before her disappearance and had even tried to sell her mobile phone to raise funds of BRL 1,000 (GBP 134).

A few hours before her death, she sent a WhatsApp message to her mother, who was looking after her two-year-old son, saying “Davi Emanoel, I love you!”, suggesting she was aware of her impending fate.

Gisele’s grandmother, Fatima, with whom she moved in when she was 14, said: “At the age of 13 or 14, she started making the wrong friends.”

The case is one of several involving women aged 16 to 30 who are believed to have been executed by criminal gangs in the Brazilian municipalities of Teresina and Timon this year.

Gisele was a friend of Joyce Ellen, aged 16, who, along with 17-year-old Maria Eduarda, was forced to dig her own grave before being tortured and shot dead by gang members.

Gang members filmed the teens digging their own graves while apparently quizzing them on Gisele’s prior killing and later photographed them covered in blood after torturing them.

In two separate cases, the dead bodies of Tatiana Graziela Santos Rodrigues de Jesus, aged 16, and of Gisele’s neighbour, 27-year-old Valdirene Melo de Jesus, were also found on the banks of the Poti River.

The police are investigating the cases.
