The statement has sparked online speculation about the ‘mysterious circumstances’ surrounding the former beauty queen’s passing.

The untimely death of 40-year-old Zina Tarhini on 9th December was reported in the Lebanese newspaper An-Nahar and confirmed by her family, who gave scant details.

Zina had won the Miss Lebanon beauty pageant in 2018 and had more recently been working in advertising, local media reported.

Her family gave no information on how or why she died in their letter confirming her death, which was then widely circulated online.

About a month before her passing, she had appeared in a video asking people to pray for her recovery, without mentioning what she was suffering from.

However, the video only surfaced after her passing, and her followers believe she may have been suffering from a chronic illness.
