This is the moment gunmen fire at a young mother and her three children – reportedly over 30 times – killing her and one of them instantly.

The incident took place in the colony of Luis Donaldo Colosio in the municipality of Ecatepec located in the central Mexican state of Mexico as the family were walking along the pavement.

The 29-year-old mother was killed at the scene and the attack is over a suspected drug-trafficking rivalry, according to local media.

The victim’s nine-year-old daughter also died at the scene while her young son Emiliano was injured and her 12-year-old daughter, who has not been named, avoided being shot by hiding behind a utility pole and two taxis.

Following a preliminary investigation, it is believed the woman was meeting her boyfriend at the time regarding a drug deal.

Reports said that they moved to the area two weeks ago after having recently been threatened by local drug gangs where they used to live.

The woman’s 12-year-old daughter reportedly confirmed to the police that the couple was selling drugs after recently moving to the colony of Luis Donaldo Colosio.

The local authorities have launched an investigation into the shooting although no one has been reported as arrested so far.

Reports said that over 30 bullet casings were found on the ground after the incident.
