This is the moment an alleged Mexican gang leader – known as The Bandit – is arrested wearing a Gucci and Louis Vuitton outfit valued at nearly 2,000 GBP.

Police in the Mexican capital arrested Eduardo Clemente Zaleta, alias El Bandido (The Bandit), in the municipality of Miguel Hidalgo, in Mexico City, on suspicion of being the leader of the La Union Tepito criminal gang.

The alleged criminal was arrested along with five other people believed to be cooperators after days of investigations. He is believed to be in charge of blackmailing, drug distribution in nightclubs and executing enemies of La Union Tepito, which he allegedly led after taking control of it along with Andres Felipe Munera, alias El Colocho.

Investigators reportedly staked out an area where drug trafficking was being committed and they spotted three luxury vehicles driving in a convoy, among them a Chevrolet Camaro and a Mercedes Benz. One of the vehicles did not have licence plates and the passenger was allegedly holding a gun.

Intelligence reported to local media claims Zaleta was in charge of the blackmailing victims in bars in the colonies Acoxpa, Pedregal, Coapa and Condesa. He also allegedly executed members of rival gangs, especially from the Fuerza Antiunion Tepito gang.

The suspect was wearing a Gucci belt valued at around 8,400 MXN (331 GBP) trainers of the same brand valued at 12,700 MXN (501 GBP)and a Louis Vuitton – Supreme collaboration sweatshirt valued at around 29,000 MXN (1,144 GBP). It is unclear what brand of jeans the suspect was wearing.
