This is the viral moment a Mexican dancer gives zumba classes in the streets to Manchester residents after a pre-lockdown visit to see her British boyfriend turned into a permanent stay.

Tania Morales, originally from the city of Monterrey in the Mexican state of Nuevo Leon, teaches zumba in the streets to the merengue tunes of ‘La Vaca’, ‘La Chona’, and many other Latin rhythms.

Morales’ street classes in Manchester have even hit the headlines in her native Mexico.

In addition, the Mexican beauty has had several videos go viral on her TikTok page where she uploads her dance videos. One clip has been viewed over 1.4 million times, another a million times, and numerous clips have garnered hundreds of thousands of views.

As seen in the footage, her British students seem willing learners as Tania teaches the dance steps in the middle of the road and residents copy from the driveways and pavements.

According to the Mexican news site Universal De10, Tania started the zumba classes during COVID-19 lockdown.

She met a British man called Tom before the pandemic when they both worked on a cruise ship and were introduced by a mutual friend.

The couple soon started a relationship and Tania travelled to the UK at the start of 2020 to visit her British beau.

However, the plan to spend two weeks in the UK quickly turned into something more permanent when lockdown was imposed.

During that time, the couple’s relationship strengthened and they became engaged in June 2020.

In April this year, Tania and Tom tied the knot.

While stuck indoors during lockdown, Tania’s mother suggested that she should teach zumba in the streets as she is a certified instructor in Mexico.

She said that Tom’s mother helped to organise everything as she knows many a lot of people in the community, and many residents were more than eager to learn from the Latin teacher.

Tania said that all current health measures are being observed during her street classes, including social distancing.
