Football superstar Lionel Messi has posted this snap of himself and his WAG from when they first met as teenagers.

Barcelona legend Messi, 32, posted the picture of himself and his WAG Antonella Roccuzzo, 31, showing the pair after they met during their childhood in the city Rosario in the Santa Fe province in eastern Argentina.

The picture shows what is seemingly a snap of a printed photograph as Messi poses next to Roccuzzo, both apparently in their youth. It is unclear exactly when the picture was taken

Messi captioned the snap: “The years go by…”

Messi and Roccuzzo met during their youth in Argentina after Messi was introduced to her by a friend when he was nine years old.

Though the two met in 1996 their relationship did not come about immediately. Four years after they met, Messi left Argentina to start his career in Barcelona in 2000.

This did not stop them staying in touch and after a fatal car accident which saw one of Roccuzzo’s close friends die, Messi travelled back to Argentina to show his support. According to local media, it is around this time that their relationship began.

He hinted at the relationship in 2008 and mentioned he was with someone, although he did not specify who.

They moved in together in 2010, months prior to the World Cup in South Africa and have been together ever since.

They married in 2017 and have had three boys together, Thiago, six, Mateo, four, and Ciro, one.
