A mean uncle has been slammed online for allowing his nephew to fall off his scooter and then riding away alone as the youngster calls after him, as seen in this video.

The incident was filmed in the city of Nanyang in the Chinese province of Henan and the footage has been widely shared on the social network Douyin, which is what TikTok is known as in China.

In the video, the uncle is seen arriving outside a shopfront on a scooter with the young boy, and both are clearly not wearing safety helmets.

Without looking, the uncle puts the scooter on its stand and gets off the vehicle, unbalancing it and causing the boy to tumble off the back.

The youngster, apparently unhurt, gets to his knee and points a finger at his uncle with a smile on his face.

However, the man seemingly does not notice that the boy fell off his bike as he raises the shutter to a shopfront and gets back on the scooter.

Without saying a word, he rides off and leaves the boy standing alone on the pavement, presumably thinking he would be okay, as the shopfront is open for him to go inside.

However, the boy seems surprised to be dumped on the pavement on his own with a small bag on the ground, and he shouts after his uncle as he watches him ride away in the distance.

The video prompted debate on social media, with many netizens criticising the uncle for being too nonchalant.

One Douyin user wrote: “The uncle did not look at his nephew from start to finish. Imagine how disappointed he must have been.”
