Kylian Mbappe has reportedly snubbed teammate Neymar’s white-themed birthday party by choosing to stay in and watch the Super Bowl instead.
Paris-Saint Germain (PSG) star Neymar got together with his teammates Edinson Cavani, Marco Verratti, Thiago Silva, Leandro Paredes, Angel Di Maria and Mauro Icardi to celebrate his 28th birthday, which will take place on 5th February.
Nicknamed the ‘Toiss’, Neymar’s childhood friends from Brazil were also in attendance, along with Marquinhos and his wife Carol Cabrino, Argentine footballer Leandro Daniel Paredes and his partner Camila Galante, Mauro Icardi’s WAG Wanda Nara, Neymar’s sister Rafaella Santos, and Thiago Silva’s partner Isabele.
Also on the guest list was former Manchester United winger Memphis Depay.
However, Kylian Mbappe was reportedly not in attendance, opting instead, according to his Instagram stories and to French media, to stay in and watch the Super Bowl, which saw the Kansas City Chiefs thrash the San Francisco 49ers 31-20.
The party took place at Le Yoyo, a plush nightclub in the heart of Paris located inside the Palais de Tokyo, in the upmarket 16th Arrondissement.
Neymar even had a nice white birthday cake that somehow looked more like a wedding cake, complete with sparklers.
PSG reportedly told their players not to let the party go on too long.
According to French media, Thomas Tuchel, the PSG manager, was not pleased about the party. The Parisian team face Nantes tomorrow (Tuesday 4th February), but the match was first scheduled for Wednesday.
But Neymar had planned his party before the change of date and Tuchel was quoted in local media as saying: “I will not say if I will be present, that is another subject. The first subject is that it is Ney’s birthday. It is a distraction, that is clear.”
The manager added: “It gives people the impression that we are not 100 percent focused and are unprofessional.”
At the Parc des Princes stadium on Saturday 1st February, against Montpellier, Neymar stood out with a new flashy pink hairdo.
