Former Barcelona superstar Dani Alves was reportedly stung while he prepared to take a corner kick and he felt a pain in his neck in the 25th minute of the match.

The images show Alves walking away from the corner of the pitch visibly in pain as he grabs his neck. Other players checked his neck to see where the player was stung.

The images also show as Fortaleza defender Jackson de Souza takes matters into his own hands and removes the corner flag from the pitch while he covers his head with his jersey as the wasps seemed to gather there.

The flag was returned as regulations dictate it must be in its place during official matches.

Alves posted a photo of the incident on social media with the caption: “Not even the bees can put up with us, brother.”

Local media report a plastic bag was placed on the flag where the wasps had gathered and the match was resumed after 4:45 minutes.

Sao Paulo won the match 2-1. They are 5th in the Campeonato Brasileiro Seria A while Fortaleza sit in 14th.
