Japan is suffering from a shortage of masturbatory aids as workers are being sent home and are looking to keep themselves entertained.
Twitter user ‘kumahakumakuma7’ shared a photo of a sex shop’s sign in Japan warning that their supplies were running low in the middle of the COVD-19 outbreak.
The sign reads: “Due to the novel coronavirus, our supply of adult goods is low. Our next shipment is not expected until at least late April, so please make your purchase soon.”
The Twitter user showed his anger at the state of affairs, writing: “Coronavirus, this is unforgivable! There are some lines you just do not cross!”
Local media report the shortage of sex toys appears to have been caused by an increase in demand due to officials recommending people avoid crowded places and companies sending workers home, which at the same time affected production capacity.
Reports state Japan’s sexual entertainment (known as fuzoku) industry has been affected by the recommendations to avoid crowded places and avoid close physical contact with strangers.
Prostitution is illegal in Japan but erotic massages and body washing services are reportedly offered at clubs in the bar districts of cities.
However, customers are avoiding these bar districts in the outbreak and reports suggest they are now getting their kicks at home with the help of aids.
