Massive Crane Arm Used To Hold Up Tent For Banquet To Protect It From Rain

This footage shows how a massive crane arm was used to hold up a tent for a banquet to protect the guests from the elements.

The footage was filmed in the city of Zhumadian, which is located in Henan province in central China, on Wednesday, 26th January.

The video was recorded by a man identified as Mr Yang, who shared it on the popular social media platform Douyin, which is what TikTok is known as in China, and where it quickly notched up over a thousand ‘likes’.

The crane arm was about 30 metres (98 feet) long, according to Mr Yang, who said that it took everyone involved to hoist the massive tent cover over the crane arm.

The footage shows the crane at the far end of the improvised banquet hall, with its long boom extending the whole length of the area.

What appears to be a large plastic sheet can be seen thrown over the crane boom while workers busy themselves with preparing for the event, with some seen setting up tables.

It was reportedly strictly forbidden to stand under the crane boom during the work, though with Mr Yang saying that the conditions were very safe. The boom can reportedly lift over a tonne when fully extended.

The banquet was reportedly organised with dozens of guests in mind, but poor weather forced the organisers to take drastic action.

It is currently unclear for what occasion the banquet was organised.
