Marcelo reportedly told Neymar “you play better than Mbappe” in the tunnel after finding out his countryman was starting on the bench in their Champions League clash last night.
The moment was reportedly captured by cameras for Spanish TV network Movistar moments before the Champions League group in which Real Madrid and Paris Saint-Germain drew 2-2 at the Santiago Bernabeu in the Spanish capital Madrid
Marcelo was reportedly heard saying “you play better than Mbappe” as the two squads waited in the tunnel before stepping onto the pitch.
According to local media, the comment came after Neymar, 27, was not in PSG’s starting lineup match yet Mbappe, 20, was and scored PSG’s first goal in the 81st minute.
Neymar was subbed into the match at the start of the second half to play his first Champions League match of the season as he returned from a hamstring injury he suffered in Brazil’s 1-1 draw against Nigeria on 13th October.
Mbappe helped PSG draw the match by scoring their first goal in the 81st minute and Spanish midfielder Pablo Sarabia scored the second in the 83rd minute after he was subbed on for Mauro Icardi in the 75th minute to secure the draw.
French superstar Karim Benzema, 31, scored both for Real Madrid.
Neymar has made six appearances in Ligue 1 this season and scored four goals.
PSG are first in Ligue 1 with 33 points giving them a comfortable eight-point lead from the club in second position, Olympique Marseille.
