A Brazilian man who has admitted to stabbing his wife and her 9-year-old son to death claims that he killed them under the influence of drugs and has suffered more pain from the crime than anyone else.

Elizeu de Casto Silva, 31, was arrested by authorities on suspicion of murdering his wife, Ivanilda Magalhaes, 32, and stepson Renan de Magalhaes Ribeiro, 9, in the Guaira district in the Brazilian state of Sao Paulo this Saturday (4th September).

Local news site Diario de Piraquara reports that Silva admitted to the cops that he committed the double murder last Wednesday (1st September) but he is the one who has suffered most as a result of the crime.

The suspect told the cops that he committed the crime under the influence of drugs and in his normal state, he is not a violent person and would not hurt a fly.

Local authorities told Diario de Piraquara that when Silva was first arrested he gave them a false name but later confessed to the crime blaming it on a drug-induced psychotic episode.

The crime is believed to have occurred in the family’s home in the municipality of Piraquara where the suspect stabbed his wife and 9-year-old stepson to death but spared his own 4-year-old daughter who was locked in a cupboard whilst Silva committed the crime.

Igor Jose Ogar, the lawyer prosecuting Silva, has questioned Silva’s claims that he committed the crime during a drug-induced psychotic episode.

Ogar claims that the fact that Silva spent several days on the run from the cops following the murders shows he was well aware of what he was doing and simply doesn’t want to take responsibility for his actions.

Ogar added that the suspect made the conscious decision not to kill his own daughter sparing her life whilst he killed his stepson which brings into question his claims that he had no control over his actions.

Silva is being held in detention whilst the investigation continues.
