This video shows a man being hit on the back of the head by a lorry’s metal tailgate after the driver forgets to lock it and it swings open.

The two movers who were standing by the side of the road suffered the painful head injuries earlier this month in the county of Yunyang, which is in Chongqing Municipality in south-western China.

Footage from Xiaohe Road in the town of Kouchang shows the men standing with their backs to moving traffic when the large red lorry approaches.

The vehicle’s tailgate can be seen swinging wide open, but neither victim realises before the lorry passes them and the door strikes both on the back of the head.

The first of the victims is hit the hardest and appears to drop to the ground, while his colleague receives a smaller knock and is left dazed and staring at the heavy goods vehicle as its driver speeds away.

Yunyang County police said lorry driver Mr Kuang had forgotten to lock his tailgate after loading in cargo.

The authorities have reminded members of the public to conduct thorough checks of goods transport vehicles before setting off.

The two men are not believed to have been seriously injured, and are not thought to have pressed charges against Mr Kuang for the blunder.
