Man Swept Away As City Streets Become River After Rain

This is the moment the streets of an Indian city are transformed into a thundering river and a man is swept away by the powerful waters after flooding killed four people.

The startling incident occurred after heavy rainfall hit the city of Ajmer in the state of Rajasthan in northern India.

A cart can be seen being swept down the river before a man appears int he water being swept along by the current.

An onlooker tries to grab the man’s hand but fails before another bystander drops into the water to try to save the man.

The second rescue attempt does not appear to work as another cart and a motorbike are also swept along with the water.

The man being swept away has not been identified in reports and there are no updates on his condition.

Local media report three people died in the heavy rainfall when a house in the Nagphani area fell onto another house. The victims were named as Hameed, 50, his daughter Ruby, no age given, and her two-year-old son Aayan. 

Reports state another man was killed in the city after being swept away by flood waters but it is unclear if this is the man in the video.

Ajmer was received nearly 120 millimetres of water in recent days.
