This footage shows a Saudi man with a massive bite mark on his neck that can be seen bleeding profusely after he was attacked by a wolf.

The incident took place in the village of Al-Jahfa, which is located near the city of Haʼil in north-western Saudi Arabia.

The young man had been inspecting a barn where the predators were being raised when the wolf reportedly pounced on him and bit him on the neck, with its fangs sinking deep into his flesh.

The wolf also reportedly bit the unnamed young man’s friend on the hand.

The victim was taken to the Al-Shanan clinic for treatment. There has been no update on the man’s health condition since then.

The footage, showing the man in hospital, was widely shared by activists who warned against rearing predators such as the wolf, warning that they can become very dangerous when starved.

The National Centre for the Development of Wildlife in Saudi Arabia said that breeding predatory animals in the Kingdom is prohibited, and penalties would be imposed on violators.

Offenders found to be in breach of the Kingdom’s rules face a SAR-30-million (GBP-6-million) fine and 10 years in prison.

It is unclear if the man has been charged with any offences but officials are reportedly looking into possible breaches of the law, including restrictions on trading in exotic animal parts and making sure that animals are being kept in an appropriate species specific environment with enough space.
