A man has been arrested for dragging a young woman who is a mum of two into a park bush to try to rape her before removing her leggings and using them to throttle her to death during a struggle.
Mother-of-two Alyona Polischuk, 33, was found dead in a park near Lazoreviy Proezd Street in the Russian capital Moscow on the night of 14th August.
According to local media, a man attacked the young woman in the park and started to tear off her clothing, but she continued to resist.
The suspect reportedly managed to remove the victim’s leggings which he then wrapped around her neck and squeezed until she was no longer breathing.
Some passersby heard the victim’s initial screams and ran to the scene to help, but she was already dead by the time they found her naked in a bush with her attacker already fled, according to reports.
The passersby then called the police.
Meanwhile, the suspect reportedly waded into the nearby Yauza River, swam to the other side, and disappeared.
The police arrested the suspected killer the following day.
The 33-year-old victim left behind two children.
The investigation is ongoing.
