This distressing footage shows a pedestrian staring at his phone while walking towards a reversing lorry when he is hit and run over as he desperately tries to scramble out of its way.
CCTV footage from the town of Tangkeng in Meizhou City in South China’s Guangdong Province shows the unnamed victim walking along the road with his head down.
He appears to be looking at the mobile phone in his hands and is completely oblivious to the lorry slowly reversing towards him.

According to reports, the pedestrian was also in the lorry’s so-called ‘blind spot’, with the driver also unaware of the man’s presence.
In the video, the lorry hits the pedestrian on the head and knocks him to the ground before he can react.
Once on the ground, he tries desperately to roll away, but the rear-left wheel rolls over him, with the footage showing the lorry clearly appearing to drive over something.
Local authorities confirmed the pedestrian died of his injuries at the scene.
The police are still investigating the case and did not say whether they had taken the lorry driver into custody.
