This is the moment a man is brutally stabbed over 40 times in the street after reportedly calling his attacker “handsome”.
The incident took place in the city of La Plata, in the eastern Argentina province of Buenos Aires and the suspect, identified as Tomas Cerletti, 22, has been charged with the murder of Walter Chirinos, 49, who was stabbed more than 40 times.
In the video, the victim, with long hair, can be seen walking down the street when a knifeman comes up behind him and begins hacking at his back.
The victim tries to run away but the aggressor follows him and begins brutally hacking at his body.
Chirinos drops to the ground and the knifeman continues hacking at him before starting to walk away.
The victim then gets up to try to run away but the knifeman spots him and turns around, continuing the brutal attack and kicking the victim in the face.
Police were called to the scene and found the victim badly injured in the head, back and chest.
He was lying on the ground and trying to say his name so he was taken to the San Martin hospital where he died due to the injuries.
Officers investigating the attack reportedly followed the blood marks found in the street where Chiringos was attacked to a house that was checked on prosecutors’ orders. Reports state that the suspect had an injury to his hand that left a blood mark on the front door of his house.
Cops arrested Cerletti and his father Fabian, 62, who was later released and charged with weapon possession as several weapons were found in the house
Local media report the bloodied clothes allegedly used in the attack were found in the house, with the suspect said to have been washing them.
Reports state prosecutor Romero, in charge of the investigation, believes that the suspect took advantage of the defenceless situation of the victim, so if he is found guilty he could be punished with a life sentence.
A preliminary autopsy confirmed that Chirinos suffered stab wounds to his head, eye, eyebrows, face, abdomen, knee and thorax.
Local media report that when the suspect was arrested he said that “he told me how handsome I was, and I stabbed him all over.”
Investigators are still working to confirm the motives for the attack.
