A jilted man has gone on the run after shooting dead his pregnant ex-girlfriend after learning that she had gone out partying at the weekend.

Lucas de Oliveira, 34, is suspected of killing the young woman, who was almost half his age, in the Brazilian city of Lages at around 1 pm on Wednesday 16th June.

Ana Julia dos Santos Floriano, 19, was two months pregnant when she was killed inside her apartment by two gunshots allegedly fired by the suspect.

The police believe the suspect shot his ex in ‘revenge’ for her breaking up with him. According to local news site Noticia no Ato, he was also angry that she had gone out on the previous weekend.

He fled after the crime and officers are currently searching for him.

An unnamed witness told the police that he had arranged to meet the victim at her apartment at 12:30 pm.

The two were in her room when they heard a noise coming from the hallway and her door handle.

He told the police that the suspect then broke into the apartment with a firearm and proceeded to argue with the young woman.

He said the suspect then assaulted the teen and that she told him to stop and leave. According to the witness, the suspect then told his ex he would “tear off her breasts” and kill her.

According to the witness, the suspect then left the apartment, but swiftly returned and opened fire.

He said that he threw himself to the ground as soon as he heard the gunshots, after which the suspect fled.

He noticed the teen was bleeding, so he went out to the street for help and found a police car. Paramedics were called to the scene, only to pronounce the teen and her unborn baby dead.

According to the police, the suspect has a prior criminal record, although his ex had never reported him to the police for domestic violence.

Other sources give the suspect’s age as 32. The manhunt is ongoing.
