This is the moment a crazy Russian uses a snowmobile on water.
The stunt was carried out by Alexander Starostin, whose age was not given, who only made some slight modifications in order to get the snowmobile to speed over the surface of the water for this action packed video.
It was filmed on the Abakan Canal which is in the city of Krasnoyarsk, the administrative centre of the Russian Krasnoyarsk Krai region located on the Yenisei River.
Although snowmobiles and jet skis may look similar in that the rider sits astride a seat and has handlebars, in every other way they are different.
Jet skis have a boat-like hull, and can float even when idle, whereas snowmobiles cannot float at all and will sink even faster than a motorbike as they do not even have inflatable tyres, just a caterpillar track on the bottom and skis at the front.
But madcap Russian Alexander Starostin managed what many thought impossible when he simply took the snowmobile onto the water, and managed to speed across the surface, as this video footage shows.
He claims that in order to do it, they just had to put duct tape over a couple of points where there was a risk the water might get into the engine, and then it was just a question of trying it out.
He used a Bombardier skidoo, reportedly a BRP 600 RS, for the stunt, each time travelling around 150 to 200 metres over the water.
He said: “We did not go too far out so as not to create problems for ourselves. The most important thing was to seal the variator. We glued all the holes in the air intake, and glued the left cover. It was a really extreme feeling, really cool. I recommend everyone who the opportunity to try it. “
He said that now having succeeded in direct travel over water, he wants to try and do turns the same as with a jet ski, but wants to find a shallow lake first of also that if there are problems the snowmobile will not sink to the bottom and become damaged.
Commentators like ‘MeteorRed’ noted: “This is a great video, I totally approve!” and “Roman Vashchuk” added: “Man, are you tired of living?”
