Man Left Double Amputee On Train Tracks Saying If Cold Does Not Kill You, Train Will

A man allegedly carjacked a double amputee at gunpoint and left him on train tracks to die after throwing his wheelchair into a ravine and telling him “If the cold doesn’t kill you, a train will.”

And the accused, Aaron Parsons, 36, of Cleveland, in the US state of Ohio, is also facing a separate murder charge in a different case, it has now emerged.

Prosecutors have described Parsons, who now faces combined charges of murder, attempted murder, robbery, kidnapping, arson, and grand theft, among other charges, as a “barbaric predator”.

He is accused of attacking the 59-year-old double amputee on 21st February, carjacking his vehicle and throwing his wheelchair into a ravine.

He then allegedly threw his victim, who has not been named, onto the train tracks and said: “If the cold doesn’t kill you, a train will.”

But the double amputee managed to call for help and survived his ordeal.

Parsons has now also been accused of attacking a 23-year-old near a railroad on 24th March, along with co-defendant Danielle Mayne-Hicks, 27, and shooting him multiple times in the head, killing him.

Newsflash obtained a statement from the US Marshals dated 3rd April, before Parsons was arrested, saying at the time that their office in Cleveland was “offering a reward for information that would lead to fugitive Aaron Parsons’s capture.

“Parsons is wanted by the United States Marshals Service and the Cleveland Division of Police for aggravated robbery with a gun.”

Following his arrest on 5th April, a grand jury in Cuyahoga, also in Ohio, has now indicted Parsons and Mayne-Hicks on a litany of charges.

Cuyahoga County Prosecutor Michael C. O’Malley saying: “Aaron Parsons is a barbaric predator.”

He added: “Judgment day is coming.”

The Cuyahoga County Prosecutor’s Office said in a statement obtained by Newsflash on Monday, 17th April: “Cuyahoga County Prosecutor Michael C. O’Malley announced that a Cuyahoga County grand jury has returned an indictment charging Aaron Parsons, 36, for kidnapping a double amputee male and the murder of a 23-year-old male in Cleveland.”

The statement also said: “On February 21, 2023, Aaron Parsons and two males approached the victim, 59 and a double amputee, who was sitting inside his vehicle, near 71st Street and Hosmer Avenue in Cleveland. They entered his vehicle, put a gun to his head, and instructed him to drive his vehicle.

“While the victim drove, Parsons and the males struck him in the head with their gun. The victim drove to the railroad tracks near Pearl Road and West 25th Street in Cleveland.

“Parsons and the two males continued to hit the victim with their gun. They then forcefully removed him out of his vehicle and onto the railroad tracks and stated, ‘if the cold weather doesn’t kill you, a train will.’

“Parsons and the males removed the victim’s wheelchair from his vehicle, threw it into the ravine and then fled the scene in the victim’s vehicle, which also contained his two prosthetic legs.

“The victim called the police and the Cleveland Division of Police responded to the scene. The vehicle was located burned near East 59th Street and Park Avenue in Cleveland.”

The statement also said: “On March 24, Aaron Parsons and Danielle Mayne-Hicks approached the victim, 23, under a bridge by railroad tracks near Pearl Road and West 25th Street in Cleveland. They beat the victim and Parsons shot him in the head multiple times.

“They then fled the scene. The Cleveland Metroparks Police Department and Cleveland EMS responded to the scene. The victim was pronounced deceased on the scene. Parsons was arrested on April 5, 2023.”

The prosecutor’s office said that they will be arraigned at the Cuyahoga County Justice Center at a later date.
