This is the disgusting moment a man is filmed as he uses his finger to smear a CCTV camera in a lift with saliva.

The incident took place in the city of Burgas, the second largest city on the Bulgarian Black Sea Coast, and was shared by the city council to publicly shame the lift vandal and warn others against carrying out a similar stunt.

In the footage, the young man appears to be offended that a CCTV camera is filming him and spits towards the lens.

However, he misses the camera and instead of trying again, uses his finger to gather the saliva which he then smears on the lens.

The motive for the man’s action was unclear, although it is suspected that he may not have wanted to have been seen and was annoyed at being filmed as he preened himself in the mirror shortly before the smear attack.

It is currently unclear whether the local authorities are investigating the incident and whether any arrests have been made.

Social media users were appalled by the footage released by the city council, with netizen ‘Gnussss’ commenting: “I want to throw up!”

‘Koko’ said: “Are these scenes from inside a monkey’s cage in the zoo?”

‘Stan Semer’ wrote: “An awful young gypsy man.”
