This is the dramatic moment seven motorcyclists armed with machetes try to rob a man as he leaves his luxury home.

The incident was caught on several CCTV security cameras at the property in the town of Seri Kembangan in the state of Selangor on the western coast of peninsular Malaysia.

The footage shows the man, whose name has not been released, opening the mechanical gates of his home as he prepares to leave in his car.

But he jumps out of vehicle and runs back towards his house after seeing seven armed robbers ride up on four motorcycles.

Three of the robbers, one of them on foot with a machete in his hand, dash through the open gates and chase after the man.

But he just manages to make it inside his house in time to slam the door in their faces.

One CCTV camera shows two of the robbers trying to kick down the door while another, inside the house, shows the man and one of his sons, pushing against the door to hold it shut.

The robbers eventually give up and ride off, smashing a window and stabbing a hole in one of the man’s car tyres with a machete as they leave.

One of the man’s sons later shared the video footage on social media with the message: “Guys please stay safe, my dad almost got robbed while leaving the house.”

Assitant Police Commissioner Ismadi Borhan said the robbers’ intended victim had not been hurt in the incident and that police were hunting the would-be robbers.

He added that the same gang were also suspected of similar robberies in the city of Klang and the towns of Puchong and Kajang.
