This is the moment a man wearing grotty underpants prays with incense sticks outside a neighbour’s house before stealing a pair of knickers from their washing line.

The incident was filmed by the neighbour’s security camera in Taman Sukun outside the town of Bukit Mertajam in the north-western Malaysian state of Penang and shared on Facebook where it has been seen 73,000 times.

In the bizarre video, the man is seen walking from his home to the next-door property before kneeling down outside the gates in a dirty pair of underpants.

He then waves some incense sticks and appears to pray, before getting to his feet and returning home.

In the next scene, the man pulls the neighbour’s clothes horse closer to the wall and begins to flick through the family’s washed underwear.

He is seen handling several items from the line and bringing them over to his side of the wall.

The unusual neighbour then returns them to the line, reportedly after trying them on.

According to local media, the man handled several pairs of undies from the rack and returned them all moments later before attempting to steal a bra.

Reports said that the outraged neighbours have taken the footage to the police and filed a complaint.

The family believes that he tried on the underwear before putting them back on the line.

Meanwhile, local media claimed that the suspect has a history of ‘odd behaviour’.

It is unclear whether the police are investigating the incident.
