These images show a man who arrived in hospital with the back of his thigh impaled by a metal stool after he slipped and broke his seat.

The unnamed male patient, who is said to be in his 50s, is seen lying prone on a table as uniformed firefighters surround him inside Fuyang People’s Hospital in China’s eastern Anhui Province.

His family called the rescuers for help on 27th July after the metal stool broke under his weight and one of the thin metal legs shot into his right thigh.

His relatives could not pull the stool leg out without causing him pain, so he was taken to the government hospital in an ambulance and met there by members of the fire service.

Video from the hospital shows doctors and firefighters inspecting the injury before a rescuer is given the signal to shear off the metal rod from the rest of the stool.

The homeowner groans as the fireman cuts the metal rod with a pair of pliers, separating the stool from his right leg.

The footage shows the metal rod protruding from the back of his right thigh before he was taken into surgery to have the object removed.

The operation was reportedly routine and he was still in recovery at the time of writing.

The homeowner, who claims he “slipped”, causing the stool seat to shift, is not expected to suffer any long-term effects from the embarrassing injury.
