The man, identified only as Chuck from Sonoma County, in California, USA, reportedly bought the 85-inch TV from retail company Costco on Wednesday, 1st February.

He then loaded it into his pickup and headed home, but decided to make a quick stop at the grocery store and purchase some goods for his family.

But even though the man spent only a couple of minutes inside, he came out only to realise that the massive TV had just been stolen, after which he immediately alerted Costco.

Later that evening, however, a couple at a local gas station heard that a TV had fallen out of the bed of another truck in the area of Larkfield-Wikiup.

Along with another person, they then went to move the TV out of the road and left it at the Sonoma County Sheriff’s Office.

The Sheriff’s Office said in a Facebook statement from 1st February, which was obtained by Newsflash: “We’re sure someone is missing something very important in preparation for Super Bowl Sunday… a big screen TV!

“A TV was found in Larkfield over the weekend and was turned in to the Sheriff’s Office by good Samaritans.

“We would love to return the TV to its owner in time for the big game.”

The social media post was later seen by a Costco employee who remembered Chuck who called the store and told the staff that his newly-bought TV had been stolen.

The employee called the Sheriff’s Office and gave them details to prove that the misfortunate buyer had indeed purchased the TV on Saturday, 4th February.

Chuck reportedly stopped by and picked up his TV on Thursday evening, 5th February.

The Sheriff’s Office said: “He said he is grateful to the person who found the TV and turned it in.

“We couldn’t track down the owner through our usual research, so we turned to our social media followers for help. You did not disappoint!

“In Sonoma County, we take care of each other! Sonoma County, you’re the best!”
