Reports state could not justify breaking the lockdown and the police issued him with a fine.

The regional gendarmerie said on social media: “Once again, such actions unnecessarily monopolise the police force.”

According to reports, due to the current lack of people on the roads, the police allowed him to return home quickly in his carriage.

Reacting to the images of the man published on social networks, one Internet user commented: “What’s the harm? He took out his pet!

“So we have to know, you pull out your rabbit: you’re wrong, you pull out your horse: you’re wrong. So what’s right?

“Hoping they didn’t take away his driving licence?”

Another internet user commented: “Do you know the song: ‘He’s riding down the mountain; he’s riding down the mountain’ you have the lyrics, just put on the music”

On 16th March, the French government decreed general confinement, ordering the police and gendarmerie to fine anyone breaking the confinement rule without authorisation up to 135 EUR (122 GBP).
