This is the shocking moment in an Iranian doctor is shot by a man dressed as a woman who pulls a gun out from under his dress before opening fire in the surgery.

CCTV footage shows the inside of the doctor’s surgery in the city of Izeh in the Iranian province of Khuzestan, where the doctor is treating a man and his wife.

The doctor, who is behind his desk, is talking to the couple when the person wearing a chador – a large cloth that is wrapped around the head and upper body by local Muslim women – enters and is asked to wait outside.

But instead, the woman, who it turns out is really a man, reaches under the dress, pulls out the gun, and shoots the doctor at point-blank range.

The doctor collapses on the floor in a pool of blood and hides behind the woman, who is seated on the chair, while the husband starts tackling the gunman, with both toppling to the ground behind the screen.

The gunman, however, manages to shoot the man restraining him before fleeing, and he is still on the run.

Both wounded men were taken to hospital in the city of Ahvaz, where they underwent surgery, and both are expected to recover.

The doctor said he was stunned at being shot, and was quoted as saying: “When the door opened and the man dressed in women’s clothing came in, I asked him to leave and wait outside.

“I asked my secretary to take him out, but he then suddenly pulled out a weapon from under the dress and pointed it at me.

“I barely had time to ask the gunman to not be stupid and to drop the weapon so that no one would get injured, but instead, he just shot me twice in the legs.

“He then fired a third shot, but I moved out of the way and it hit the wall.”

He said that the other man who was in the room then tackled the gunman, and was also shot.

The doctor added: “I am completely puzzled as to why I was attacked. I don’t know anybody whom I’ve got a dispute with, and I always treat everyone, including my patients, with respect.

“I’m really worried and hope that the police find the attacker soon.”

The doctor’s secretary said she had realised it was a man in woman’s clothing when he walked into the waiting room and then went straight to the doctor’s surgery, locking the door behind him.

She said that when the gunman ran out, she briefly gave chase, but he jumped on a motorcycle and fled off down an alleyway.

Iranian cops are reportedly looking for the gunman, but at the moment, no arrests have been made.
