This is the moment a pedestrian is sent running for his life as a huge lorry mounts the pavement, flips over and smashes into a wall next to him just as he walks past.

The incident was filmed by CCTV cameras in the neighbourhood of Churubusco in the central Mexican capital Mexico City and posted on social media where it has been widely circulated.

In the footage, a man in a blue T-shirt is seen running along the pavement just as a large vehicle appears to crash into the wall behind him.

In the next scene, firefighters are seen using a winch to bring the overturned lorry back onto its wheels.

Cables are stretched across the road and connected to the vehicle’s undercarriage before being slowly turned the right way up.

According to local media, the Mexican Secretariat of Public Security sent experts to the scene to assist firefighters and remove the crashed lorry from the area with the use of a crane.

The local authorities had to close the road while teams attended the emergency situation and advised residents of which alternative routes they could take to avoid further disruption.

It is currently unclear whether the lorry driver was injured and whether the local authorities are investigating the incident.
