This is the moment a man almost batters his business-owner neighbour to death with a hammer after the company chief confronted him about his ‘Dennis The Menace’ son’s bad behaviour.

The shocking attack happened as the suspect Chen and the victim Huang – both identified by their surnames – were discussion compensation after homeowner’s son allegedly flooded neighbour’s business.

Longwan District police in the coastal city of Wenzhou, which is in East China’s Zhejiang Province, said they received a reported of the incident at just before 2pm local time on 7th May.

Security camera footage from Huang’s business shows Chen, aged 37, walking behind the shop owner, producing the hammer from under his clothing, and striking the victim on the side of the hammer with the tool.

Two strikes in quick succession cause Huang to fall off his chair onto the floor. There is a brief pause before Chen picks up the hammer again strikes the victim three more times.

In the video, visible blood splatter can be seen on the floor and nearby wall as the homeowner lands the final blow.

Local authorities said Chen – a native of the city of Shaoguan in southern Guangdong Province – was arrested at the scene of the crime.

Huang was taken to hospital for emergency treatment and is in stable condition.

According to the victim’s brother, Huang runs his business in the building’s ground floor, while Chen and his family live on the 3rd floor.

In April, the suspect’s son allegedly dropped rocks into the gutters on the roof, causing the stones to be washed down the pipes and ultimately being lodged at a bend.

The pipes reportedly burst, flooding Huang’s ground-floor business and causing nearly 10,000 RMB (1,130 GBP) in damage.

Huang had repeatedly spoken to Chen about the incident, his family said, with the businessman demanding 4,000 RMB (450 GBP), while the neighbour was only willing to offer half that amount.

During their most recent negotiations on 7th May, CCTV footage captured Chen striking Huang over the head with the hammer while he was talking on the phone.

Investigations are still ongoing.
