Man, 38, Zapped To Death By Plugged In Mobile Phone While In The Bath

A Spanish man has died after his mobile phone fell on his chest while charging when he was in the bathtub.

The 38-year-old man, who was not named, was found dead with burn marks on his chest in his bathtub in the La Latina neighbourhood of the Spanish capital Madrid on Tuesday, 19th October.

The new site El Mundo reported that the man was having a bath when his phone, which was plugged into the mains, fell into the water.

The emergency services were called to the scene after the man’s partner found him showing no signs of life in the tub.

The local emergency services later wrote on Twitter: “A 38-year-old man has died as a result of an electrical discharge from his home while bathing.”

“#SUMMA112 arrived at the scene and confined the death. Mental health services have been made available to the man’s partner.”

El Mundo said the police found that the man had a severe burn on his chest.

His death is believed to have been caused by electrocution, but this has not been confirmed by an autopsy yet.

The National Police are now investigating the incident and checking the electrical wiring in the house for any irregularities.
